wow. it seems people are really opinionated about the sub location here. as far as the amp over heating: I will asume the amp is a two channel because it is jensen i don't know that they make a mono amp. and the sub is a 4ohm as the mtx 8000 is the lowest model that is dual voice coil. there for he probably has the amp bridged at 4 ohms which is perfectly okay. and the amp will play fine as long as the gain is not past about .75 gain give or take.

as far as the acoustics of it. i'm not sure if some of you guys realize this but a car is not good for acoustic pretty much no matter where you shove a sub. as for the argument about a one frequency boom-boom. is totaly false. that statement is a little more accurate for a bandbass enclosure. yes, there will obviously be some acoustic interference but not anymore than if you point the sub foward or rearward. however the sub will most likely rattle w/ the lid down and a mesh grill of some sort would be a good idea if you don't just want to remove the lid altogether. the install is very clean. and i'm sure it sounds just fine. no, its not competition equipment, but he didn't say he was competing.

Wrong a car is good for acoustics if done right. The small volume of our cars makes them great for a good stereo. And the one frequency boom theory is right on give it a try, And i don't know what you are talking about with the bandpass statement, since the front of the sub in a bandpass box doesn't radiate any sound out really as most of it comes from the back of the speaker through the ports. I agree that it looks nice and it probably is a nice improvement over the stock amount of bass but that same sub and amp would sound much louder and cleaner in another type of box. Again I do think it looks clean tho, props on that

Right. compared to a room that has acoustic matting and concrete all around for sound deadening, a car, with sheet metal that resonates terrebly and odd shapes for sound to bounce off of unpredictably is bad for acoustics. tru bass sounds louder because it is hard for it to escape. but this is not true bass reproduction. in other words louder doesn't equal better young one. and as for you offer for me to give the one frequency boom theory a try, i've been installing car stereos professionally for three years and i am MECP certified so i've "givin' it a try a few times" and like i said, for his application it isn't noticable especially with the circuit city subs. and to clarify what i mean about the bandpass being one frequency boom more so, the ports of a bandpass or ported enclosure are tuned for a certain frequency range, resulting in one frequency range getting about a 3db boost in reproduction.

BBRRRrrrrrrriiiinggggg!!!!
schools out.

its teasing......the title says "for all those that said it couldnt be done"....that implies this is going to be something new. This sub install has be done several times. No one ever said you couldnt install a sub in the storage bins, so i have no idea wtf you got that from. anyhow this thread is pointless, has nothing to do with FC technical information, is a waste of server resources and plain stupid.
