What causes glazing? Is it from overheating the brakes or from poor quality pads? I bought the car and it had been sitting so at first I thought it was just just that needed to be worn off. The car has Sumitomo pads in the front and I do not know what is on the rear. I think I only felt fading once during an autocross but other than that the brakes function OK.

Is this some kinda performance brake pad?
If not, you can't expect them to handle even slightly elevated driving.
Autocross doesn't normally get the brakes hot enough for them to fade.
Change the brake pads to something a bit more performance oriented.
Try Hawk HPS is you can...

For my money, Hawk HPS is the only pad worth buying for anything other than track use. I have been using them for years and couldn't be happier.
On a side note, I'm sure my rotors are getting glazed. They had mega surface rust from sitting for 20 moths and I just used them to wear it off.... Oh well.
