alarm just spontaneously goes off
I had my car parked outside while i went to school and when i came back some lady told me that my alarm would spontaneously go off, i can turn it off with the key but the alarm will just randomly go off. Ive never personally experienced this even though my car is parked outside my house by my room for like 14 hours a day, ive never seen this happen before. Do you know what might be wrong and how to fix it, also how can i disable my alarm so this doesnt happen again?
oh yea, its an 88 vert.

ok this happened to me.... alot. one time my parrents called ama or something and they freakin scratched my paint tryin to break into my car. but thats another story.
Go get your battery checked. i believe the alarm will do that when the battery is low. i ended up replacing my battery, i was so close to death it wouldnt even read on the meter. when i flipped my lights up when i was driving, my car would shut off.
there is one way to stop the alarm from going off. simply dont arm it. only turn the key till the motor shuts off, then make sure all you stereo stuff is switched off and u shouldnt have a problem.

well i pushed my car into the parking lot of a parts store. and they whipped out the battery cheker thing. as for doing it yourself, use a voltmeter. u can get one from napa, or parts source, whatevers close. but i would just ask if they would chek it for you.

This happens occasionally to me too. I think what happens is when you shut the door, the handle isnt open all the way. Or you accidentally let go of the handle before the door is fully closed. So the car is not locked after you close the door, and then the alarm goes off 10 minutes later. That is my theory anyway...

most likely is your light switch plungers they activate the alam when the door opens, mine got worn out,so when the door was closed if it vibrated a little the siwtch would go off, you just have to take the swich out and readjust it by unclipping the plug end and moving it further down the plastic shaft so it won't make contact as easily.
