One more thing... I have a 88 SE so would the demensions on the ther models liek GXL TII be diff? Otherwise these will all be made by machine so they wil all be exact to measurements from the template.

All must kneel before the Exhalted Air Box Master!

As the father of this project, I'm flattered. I sincerely hope that you do a good job of reproducing the air box. It might suck if they don't turn out as good as you had hoped and bring darkness on my laboriously created template set.

For those who appreciate a final, well-crafted product made from your own hand, I have template sets available that will make the creation of your own air box a glorious reality. Shoot me a PM and a template set can be yours.

And the box will be made by a prof. so im sure it wil be as good as the template can make it!! And I have seen the product so I have no doubts... also if you could PM me with info on how much you spent on materials and time and stuff.. so I can work out a fair price. I will hopefully be adding a few things to your idea.. i.e. anadized metal ... blah blah

would someone be able to post the dimensions of the airbox? wouldn't be very hard to open up paint, or cad if you are good and draw it up real quick.

wow, this thread is old, but if you still read this, some CADD drawings would be cool.

Yeah that'd be sweet.. I'd consider buying one if you made it, or at least using the dimensions.

Yeah, that's been around a while. It's a good way to achieve the same result. The thing is...it looks like ***. I figure if you're gonna go to the trouble of making something, do it right and make it look good. I've addressed this before, but I've thought of posting the dimensions and the problem is that there are irregular curves and angles that, for me, would be difficult to describe in a way that would assure accurate reproduction.

For those who don't know this yet, I do have template sets I'd be glad to send out to anyone who wants one. The set is composed of laser copies of the actual templates at full size and a CD with a tools list, a materials list (including a great source for aluminum sheet), a build guide and some photos to help describe it all. It took me a while to develop and produce this set, so I'm not just giving it away. I'm just looking to cover the costs associated with producing it and sending it ... that comes to $5 or $8 in Canada. If you want one, PM me.

Yeah, thats a tight name don't yo think? You could sell the box for like $50-60, I could get a good number of people to buy from you and you could make GOOD money from them. Think about it, please.

I was going to try but it just takes too much time, and ohnestly, with the parts and time to make it and then having to try to sell it, 50 - 60 bux a peice would not make you any money. Not the design I had in mind. The L shaped block off that everyone has made and sells should suit all you guys, its ugly, even in CF but oh well.

Psycho,

What took the most time for these things? At work I have a band saw that we use on sheet metal (Q-panels) on a daily basis, so if i just took a hell of a lot of time to cut them, this would definitely speed tjhe process up (including a sanding to take care of the edges). I'd be interested in at least giving it a shot. Maybe I'll get those templates.

I just received the templates from atommica today and it appears to be more work than I had anticipated. What I did not realize was some tools that I would need to reproduce it like the original such as a pop rivet gun. I am going to start the cardboard demo box and try to think of a way other than using rivets to assemble the box. This may not be a problem to those who already have a rivet gun and a drill and bits. Keep you guys updated.

Well I had attomicas templates and I wanted to do a bit of changing to it. Use thicker sheet metal... make more room for a bigger filter... to do it for your self is no prob, but to do 20 .. plus, I moved so my friend can no longer use my car to make it.

and another thing is getting air into is looked like a prob.. that headlight scoop wont do ****...

Did you still use rivets to put it together? I dont want to buy an expensive tool like that and only use it once. I was thinking maybe epoxy or something else. Any suggestions or insight?

Psychoblue23 what was the biggest filter you got into the box?

That one was one of the changes I made in the box. Since I had aall the machines to cut and bend I did not need to use that tool. Therefore making it look better and made it stronger, but more difficult to fit inside. i wanted to use the K&N 6 in oval filter. I amsure with some more time spent I could have made it work... But neither of us had the time, and since I moved my friend no longer has a car to use for measurements, etc etc...

yea im making one right now out of tin metal from home depo. 9the stuff you use on roofs and vents) mine is going to sit close to the roof with rubber on top sealing it cuz i want to bring air from the headlights to. i was thinkin some good insulation would be making a bigger box around the box you already made and using that spray fome isulation and spraying that between the boxes wich would keep the hot outside of the box and the cold inside the box
