Exclamation Air Flow Meter

I have a 1987 Turbo T2 and i was woundering if i could bypass the air flow meter i heard that if i get a anti stall bov i wont need it just wanted your opinion

You absolutely need it with the stock ECU. No way around it.

there is minimal performance gain from removing the AFM up until your car reaches the level of heavy modification. the biggest restriction is in the exhaust, not in the intake.

so if i were to upgrade the bov i would just need the bov and the fitting i would not need anti stall valve kit

Any bov that doesnt leak will be fine with our afms.

I have heard fc guys having idle issues with cheap ebay bovs.

Buy quality parts and you wont have an issue. I have a bailey dv36 on my miata and a hks ssqv on my rx7, neither leak.

"anti stall valve" seems like ebay china for "one way check valve"...................quality is your friend.

Yes, but the engine will run rich between shifts, which will slightly hurt your acceleration times on the drag strip (if you care about that).

FYI the way you wrote your post it sounded like you wanted to remove the AFM from the car, which is why the first two responses are written with that in mind.

well i was asking both becuase i think my afm is messed up. is there a difference between s4 non turbo and s5 non turbo afm. if not could i put it in my s4 turbo ?

the afm's are different between series and between NA and turbo. s4 turbo afm's go for about 40-50 bucks. get the right one.
