Aftermarket Radio and Power Antenna

Aftermarket Radio and Power Antenna
I have searched the threads and have learned that the stock power antenna is negatively triggered. I am an Electrical Engineer so I drew up a wiring diagram to make sure this is how is should be wired before I connect it to the new radio. The only thing I am concerned with is the new relay shorting out the radio. Do I need to put a resistor after the load of the relay so there won't be a direct short from the blue wire of the radio to ground?
I also want to double check the the LtBlue/Yellow wire is trigger wire for the power antenna relay.

i don't understand your diagram but my power antenna works i've didn't know they were negative ground. i wire kit for an aftermarket head unit will have everything yo need to make it work. thats what i got and just soldered together the same color wires

i think her know that what he's concerned about it it being switched by a negative source. so the antenna has power all the time and will be activated when a wire is grounded not when a wire gets a 12v signal. I don't know if it's negative ground or not and i don't remember if my car had a specail relay in the wiring kit

I did wake up in the middle of the night and realize I made a mistake.
The blue wire from the radio will supply 12 volts when the radio turns on. That will make the relay and that is what the top line of the diagram says.
My mistake is having the +12v and a normally closed contact. It should be ground and a normally open contact on the relay and that will make the relay in the power antenna make, switching direction of the motor.
Sorry for the post, I should have just slept on it apparently and I would have figured it out in the middle of the night.

The stock antenna is negative triggered, as you found out. Thus you must add a relay to be powered from the head unit's positive trigger which will switch the antenna trigger to ground.

You're an electrical engineer and you drew that?!

heh the nOOb flame fest.. look for the "Interior / Exterior / Audio" section, lots of info in there... that first link is perfect, no need for resistors or anything... works great in mine, and if you hook it up w/o the realy you probably will blow the ant or the radio
