There were some issues putting it in. For example the Ford/Saab cup holder is about an half inch too long, so I did have to trim a little off of the back of the cup holder and coil holder drawers.
And because I only mount radios with the factory bracket on a FC, I had to flatten the lower section of the bracket sides, so that the cup holder would slide in.
I used small plastic snap in covers for the holes (normally it would mount using Bosch/Bluapunkt mounts like a FD or NA/NB or 626).
The only other issue is that with the cup holder all the way out it is within about an inch of the shifter when the shifter is all the way foward (1st/3rd/5th gear), but I have got use to it and there is still room to grab the shifter and not hit the cup holder.

.
well you could if you cut the cupholder mounting face sides down
Just a note, you can't use Icemark's idea w/ a S5 w/o cutting up the surround. I'll explain later if needed... but trust me, you can't.

Just one right now... but total I have had 6.
I had a 79 GS, a 87 Sport, an 88 GTU (that my dad has now and it sits babied in his garage in San Diego) a 94 PEP, a 91 coupe (that I only had for a couple of months because we really had to many cars), and my 88 non-P package 'vert.
I had my 87 Sport the longest, almost 10 years. I have been looking for another FC coupe though. I am thinking about pulling the T2 drive train back out of the 'vert and dropping it into another 87 Sport or 88 GTU (or in worst case a 87-90 GXL that gets converted back to manual everything, and upgraded to the sport suspension).
I am picking up what sounds like a good N/A 13B core that needs to be rebuilt (bad oil seal) at the end of the month, that I am planning on putting into back the 'vert.

Actually, it's still too wide when you do this. Trying to put it in anyway is just asking to rip off the rubberized coating for the surround.

The sides of the case for the Ford/Saab cup holder is standard din, and would mount into the factory can.

I'm in the process of doing this with my dash to put in an 5.6" LCD, and am having a bitch of a time trying to figure out how to do it with fiberglass. Did you take a mold of the stock piece? Fiberglass on top of it?
It gives you the oppertunity to cut stock brace areas

Than again my other car is a 93 ford probe with >300,000 miles on a mazda four banger. And I used the coin/cup holder out of a Thunderbird in it. Worked damn nice too
