Aftermarket BOV installation question
I have a GReddy type-RS BOV. i have been told that installing this can throw codes and also clog up my cat, but i have also read that aftermarket bovs can be an essential upgrade without it mentioning any problems. When changing from the stock to aftermarket what do i need to change if anything for the install?

Means vent it back into the intake pipe behind the AFM. You can't vent it to the atmosphere because it will suck air after the AFM, which the AFM will sense and tell the computer that airflow has seriously decreased, which will cause all sorts of driveability problems. So if you bought it for sound, you kinda hosed.

daily driven atomspheric vented Apexi bov for 4 years now...
If you have a S4 then the ecu won't care.
The reason why people say recirculate it, Is because that is metered air that the ecu has already planned for. It will inject the fuel for that air. So if you go atmo then you will be rich for a split second when you shift or dump air.
The ony way I could see it "clogging the cat" is via these rich situations and over a long time.
I like fireballs and don't run cats so I don't care

The proper way to vent to atmosphere is to delete the AFM. Of course doing so requires the use of a standalone type EMS. You can still run one vented to atmosphere, but expect decreased catalytic converter life, some backfiring, and worst case scenario boggy throttle response between shifts.
Your call.

Mine was a kit. http://www.velocityfactor.net/prodim...SBOVRX7500.jpg You have to have the charge pipe with the greddy adapter or have an adapter welded on your stock charge pipe.

To the OP if you look at how the stock BOV is hooked up then it should make pretty good sense as to how to hook up the new one. If you don't have a TID then you will need to plug a few holes but it's easy.
