Aftermarket Alarm Removal

Well I want to remove it as it doesn;t work and to clear some of the wires from underneath the dash. I was just wondering if anyone had any pointers on what to watch for when removing and what to be careful for?

Thanks in advance,
Josh

1. Grab
2. Pull
3. Fix all of the things that you just broke

Seriously though, check the FSM.. should be pretty obvious what they did. Typically, alarms will intercept certain ignition/accessory/starter wires in order to prevent engine startup.
Simply find those, remove the alarm from the scenario.. and re-join the stock wires together.

For instance, there's a white wire with a red stripe under there somewhere.. if they cut it.. simply remove the alarm wires that separate them (probably a relay), and re-join the two ends of the white/red stripe wire....

The rest should be obvious. Make sure you don't have any wires with voltage left hanging around.... Could cause gremlins in the future.

basicly you find that black box the alarm is pluged into, should be zip tied or hanging there, depends on who installed it. pull out all the plugs rom the box. keep it in hand to know which wires are which. pull out all that mess of wires, dont rip out though! see where the ends are tapped into your ignition, acc. and all the other good stuff. cut off from the alarm side then either tape or use heat shrink wrap to make sure that all your wires are not touching. that is how i think it should be done!.......

Well, how you think it should be done, and REALITY are two very different things. Have you done it before? Chances are there will be relays inbetween your starter trigger.. meaning if you do what ibekinq just said, you won't be able to start your car.

I highly doubt there are relays because the person that installed it did a hack job to begin with, but I think I am gonna do a little bit of both of your guys' suggestions.

Thanks

i was tryin to tell you there was going to be alot of wires. now that the car was hacked up there will be no relays.just follow the wires from the alarm to where they end on the ignition and so on.

ok i do this for a living at a custom car shop so here is what you need to do. find the main module {the brain of the alarm} un plug all harnesses from it that is step 1 ok now follow all the wires to where they are connected to the vehicle harness and remove and repair where the conection was made use a good elec tape ( 3m super 33 works best ) ok there should be a parking light wire a door triger wire 2 lock wires ( if they hooked up locks ) hood pin and trunk pin( if they were hooked up) there will be an ignition conection to an actual ignition wire IE the wire that stays powered during cranking a constant power wire IE a wire that is always powered up and probably, not always a starter kill this will be 2 wires one going to the key side and one going to the starter side so what you need to do is reconnect the starter wire or your car will not start so just remove the wires that are connected to this wire and reconect it
