After market Top mount Intercoolers
#27
If you want to keep the response by having a top mount and aren't looking for a huge upgrade in power, why not try water injection? I'm willing to bet that will help combat heatsoaking..

There's the cheap way and there's the not so cheap way.
1. Do what sircygnus said because he can jew a dollar up with an rx7.
2. MEHT/ALK injection. Diy or snow performance. Cools the intake charge dramatically.
3. Dont run a top mount. Go with a v mount. Yes, you need different radiator fans. Yes you need the proper vent in your hood, yes you need some sort of sheet metal duct work to keep it efficient and yes it cost money. A good chunk of change. Around $500-600 and that's if you dont care about supporting big brand names. You buy brand name and you're going from hundreds to THOUSANDS really quick.
In the end, it's your car.
I dont care what anyone says. Top mounts are TINY and the fact the air is pushed INTO your hood that also has air comming in from the bumper doesn't seem like a great thing to me. Plus, v mount looks baller when you pop the hood.
Make your own piping and select your own intercooler. It really is that easy. Bolt in kit.....pffft.
I read about 5 posts down and decided to put my 2cents in.

Check out http://www.neukin.com/SearchResults.asp?Cat=5
He's one of our local guys and manifolds he makes are amazing. There's a guy running a 6-port turbo that uses one of these, pushing around 450 to the wheels. Worth every penny unless you can have some fabbed up cheaper.
