Adjusting idle on 87 T2
K I read about how to adjust the idle ect, hook up the jumper cable to that one clip and then turn the screw by the BAC valve, but when I hook up the jumper cable the car stall's and when i dont use it , it doesnt adjust at all, soooo i dunno wtf to do, my car idles at like 600-700 rpm. its sorta shakey, and the motor mounts are fine , and somtimes it stalls, and when i put the clutch in at stops it dropps to like 300 then jumps back up, so just for my own personal preference i wanna hire it to like 800-900 rpm.
Any advice would be much appreciated, thanks !

Hey man, your pretty close to where I live! Anyways, it sounds like you might have a possible vacuum leak somewhere, check your intake to make sure there isn't any and also those vacuum lines behind the intake manifold against the firewall. Your BAC could also be bad, I had to replace mine to set my idle properly. Do a search on this forum on the TPS Adjustment procedure and set your Throttle Position Sensor correctly, that greatly helped my idling problems too.

i've adjusted my idle before using the BAC, but didn't jump the connector. i jumped it when i tested the voltage on the BAC though. either way i was still able to adjust the idle using the screw. also, is your throttle cable correctly adjusted? not sure if this would help at all but mine was haning up sometimes causing a high idle or low idle...good luck dooood

My idle was never adjustable at the BAC on my '87 TII until I did this (well...it was back in the summer so i'm trying to remember).
1) Made a bypass for the IC so that all the adjustments could be reached with the engine running.
2) Adjusted TPS
3) Turned the BAC screw all the way in (or out...I can't remember but it's which ever way raises the idle).
4) Adjusted the Throttle Stop Screw so that the car would idle at about 1500 RPM and then turned the BAC screw in to lower the idle to the right speed.
This procedure returned idle adjustability to the BAC and allowed my A/C to run without killing the engine. It also kept the engine from dying when cold.
I'll try to post pics. of everything.
