adapting T5 tanny to fc!!!

seen on numerous cars. including the guy who had a tri-rotor cosmo swap on super street.. these people has successfully adapted the T5 tranny into the rotary engine..
-what will you need for anyone to bolt on a T5 tranny in to an fc motor.. will the splines line up. and can i use the stock tranny bell housing..

as for the t5. it is well proven that it is bulletproof.
no flames please....

AN adapter plate is sold to bolt the trans onto the TII trans bellhousing. The splines may fit, depending on the year of the T5. You will deifinitely need to custom wire the nuetral/reverse lights switches, build a custom crossmember, and have a custom driveshaft built.

The T5 trans isn't even closely geared to stock (poor acceleration), and is pretty prone to breaking under lareg torque numbers. Unless you are going with an aftermarket T5 (or T56), this is hardly a worthwhile swap.

What kind of motor is this going to be coupled to?

Ok guys I hate to be brutal here, but TORQUE isnt something 7's are notorious for! Yes T5's will blow, Im on the 4th one in the stang. You can get different gear ratio T5's as in T5z. I love the tranny they just dont take kindly to high HP/Torque cars, by this I mean 300 plus with close to the same numbers in torque as well. The T5z is even stronger! From what I hear adapting a T5 to a 7 would be fine, you would just have to worry about the rear-end standing up to the powershift you would able to do using the T5.

Oh yeah and a ps here: T5's and T5z's are built by Tremec, they are no longer made by Borg Warner. Take my advice buy one that was built after 97 as thats when Borg Warner sold out to Tremec and the Quality became alot better!!! If your looking for a place to buy one from, I've had good service from the guys at D&D that you should be able to find in almost any mustang magazine. http://www.ddperformance.com

LMFAO!!

t5 huh? lol...

my 93 s10 lowrider with the 127hp 2.8Lv6 tore the ******* t5 right out of it, 3rd gear is no longer present, 4th and 5th grind badly. And no, I dont race the truck.

Hell, if a I could figure a way to make a shifter line up, Id install a 13B carb Sp engine with a turbo II transmission behind it in the little s-10, but the shifter would sit roughly behind the seat...

Screw some t5's man...
