ACV question

here's a quick question. i have a 88n/a basically running stock except for removed air pump. since i dont have an air pump can i just remove the acv and block it since it's not connected to anything? i also saw a couple of harnesses that i guess connects to the main harness. can this be done with no ill effects to the engine??

hmmm, if you are using the stock exhaust (including the cats) you need to have the air pump to avoid damaging them ?

if you hollow them out, or run a straight pipe then it doesn't matter, you could remove both the air pump and acv, but then you have to worry about backpressure for the acuators...

ah geez...i wished i had my camera now - well the exhaust has been modified before i bought it but it's basically it has headers to a 2-1 collector, then a single pipe straight back. no cats. whoever did it shorten the pipe that routes the backpressure to the actuators and it works fine. so i figured since i have no airpump, i might as well take out the acv

ok then, take it out, but put on a block-off plate. I still have my EGR valve well because it is under the upper intake manifold and I'm not taking it off just for that.

I've seen a block-off plate kit (5 piece) a long time ago for under $30. http://www.rx7store.net/product_p/block%20plates.htm
you could also make one yourself.
