Question ACV question

The circled port in the picture below... where does it go? there is like a long hose that goes to the front of the car.. what is the idea of this? does that port not being connected cause a vacuum leak? or does it just bleed off pressure? can it just be like it is now, blowing into the atmosphere?

thanks,

-Robert

Goes to the port air tube (i think thats the name). Its a long tube with a silencer on the end. It dumps air overboard (from the air pump) when its not used.

It wasnt stock equipment on black 10th AEs....

so, in other words, I don't need to have it connected to that hose right? It's fine like it is just to dump the extra air into the compartment right?

The hose tore when I pulled it off for my turbo reinstall, and I didn't have any hose that size laying around .. wondering if I even need to buy another one.

It's not port air (that's what goes to the exhaust ports via the intake manifold's internal passeges), it relief air. The air pump is pumping air all the time, so whenever air isn't required to be sent to the exhaust ports or cat, it's dumped overboard via that hose. The silencer under the headlight at the end of the line is so you can't hear the air pump.

This was fitted to all FC's.

Hey, that pipe that comes off the ACv, and goes to the cat is plugged off on my car (no Cat) so is it just pumping air out of the above mentioned hole all of time?

No, the relief valve only opens when needed.

Okay, so I messed that one up. Do I get credit at least for being right about the rest of it?
