Accelerated Warm up System

How long is this thing suppose to keep the revs up during cold start??
When I first got the car it stayed up for good minute or two but now it keeps the rev up for 10 minutes!!!

Thats probably the cam on the TB sticking. The AWS solenoid only raises the RPM for the 30 sec after startup. The mechanical one should only stay on for a minute or two. You check to see if its catching on something or if your thermowax is starting to not work correctly.

Would the throttle body mod that everyone is talking about would fix this problem?? What do u mean by the thermowax? What is it and what am i suppose to do with it? Does it need adjustment or new?

Sorry for the essay..Just trying to learn as much as i can..

Thanks

http://www.iluvmyrx7.com/Technical_I...ice_manual.htm Section 4B is the Fuel System for the turbo model. You have a AIR BYPASS SOLENOID VALVE located on the right hand side of the intake and it has a hose going to the intercooler. This device opens and lets air into the intercooler for 17 seconds after start. Take the plug off it(two wired plug, a black and white wire and a brown and yellow wire) and see what happens. There should be no air flow thru this with the plug disconnected. On the thermowax device, its located on the left rear of the throttle body. It has water flow thru it from the engine. Hot water makes a piston on it expand and rotate a cam which in turn disengages a part of your throttle linkage from a roll pin. That mess keeps your idle high until the water gets warm enough shove the roll pin off the cam. If you have a clogged up water hose going to the thermowax device, then the idle will stay high for a long , long, long time. Download that section on Fuel System Turbo, and they have a good picture of it in a part on the intake air system. Check the air bypass solenoid out first. Its easier. Small possibility its stuck open. Throttle body mod has side effects. P.S. Have you tried a winter thermostat??? The *block* will warm up faster. Try that first. Five bucks and twenty minutes vs lotta time.

So if you disconnect the AIRBYPASS SOLENOID VALVE, and the rpm does not rev up that means the AIRBYPASS SOLENOID VALVE is faulty and needs replacing?

Thank you so much for your help
