About the sunroof on a S5

When i push the button to open it the motor starts to do its work, but the roof doesn't open until i push the roof up while holding on to the sunroof button. I was wondering what the problem was, I mean the sunroof opens and closes fine after the initial push, but I want to get it to open without the push.

Totally normal for our old cars. I think lubing the tracks with graphite helped me a little.

I recently pulled off my sunroof and painted it, then greased the tracks. Now there's a noticeable difference.

Replace your sunroof with a Carbon Fiber one,
it will be a lot easier for that little motor to operate without all that weight.

Thumbs up

yup age does that just like everyone else said lubricate then make sure all electrical connections to the motor is strong and free of corrotion what ever you decide to do make sure you do it with the quickness cause it sure is putting strain on the motor and that will make it go out

Same problem here, except a little worse than a little push unfortunately. I sometimes have to guide it back. Where is that Howto link. Maybe I'm just too blind to find it...

I don't think I've ever been in an FC that didn't need someone to push the sunroof up before it moved on its own.

Mine occasionally opens by itself.

Unfortunately, everyone has trouble getting it up when they're older it seems....
