About to start my cleaniing and inspection for rebuild..

ok, my first question is the motor i have was overheated and the coolent seals melted.. should the housings still be good...they look fine but as far as warping.. second one end plate has a groove twards the end on it and yes i can catch it with my nail... please give me your opinion.. i sooon will be adding pics of all the engine parts..

and thanks in advance for any help

Most used housings will have a groove on them. The factory service manual and Haynes manual contain measurements for service limits for both this groove and warpage. Just measure.
