929 Master Cylinder / S5 Booster problem
Hello. I'm putting a Stoptech brake kit on my FC and am upgrading to a 1" MC because of this. I bought what I thought was an S5 booster and a 1992 929 ABS master cylinder which I've read are compatible.
However, they don't fit together. My first thought is that I don't have a real S5 brake booster and I got stuck with an S4 instead. I've attached some pics- if someone knows what an S5 booster looks like, please take a look.
Also- I attached some pics of the booster trying to work with the master cylinder.
The MC has a long tube coming out of it (to receive the plunger from the booster) that causes the MC piston to move in halfway before it can even bolt up to the booster. Also notice the stripped stud on the booster. Neat.
Anyway- if someone can confirm that this is an S4 or S5 booster, that would be a huge help. Any other suggestions would be apprciated as well.
Anyone know if an FD booster will bolt up to an S4 T2?
Thanks
Ben

For some reason I always thought that it was a 93 and up master cylinder; could be wrong though.
BTW - I am asuming that your car has ABS.

I found an email from cymfc3s, all the credit goes to him!
"If you have an 89-91 FC with ABS, its a drop in deal. If you have an earlier model, some of the brake boosters are different and you need to put a later model fc brake booster in. Then it bolts up. You do need a 93 and up 929 BMC. Good luck."
Hope this helps

Thanks for the replies- I searched a bit but couldn't find anything.
From the research that I did the 929 MCs are the same from 92-94...I think I was sold the wrong booster because my S4 MC bolted right up to it.
The car doesn't have ABS but I'm re-doing all the brake plumbing so it'll work out.
The Stoptech kit is adapted to the FC, originally meant for an Integra Type R.
I tried out the booster and MC (1") from the Type R- they bolt up very nicely to the FC and I just need to weld a couple nuts onto the booster-pedal joint. I think I'm going to go that route instead. FYI- the ITR MC/booster is the same as any Integra GSR from '94-'01 and they are widely available.
Thanks
