90 vert intermittent hesitation and clicking sound from passenger side?
My 90 vert has been having a strange problem for the last few months and I've been trying to make sense out of it.
Originally, when the problem presented itself, the exhaust note would get very harsh sounding and the car would lose power past ~3k rpms. Usually the car would make it all the way to red line in first and then start to lose power after that. Around 3.5k rpm in 3rd gear, the car would have so little power that it wasn't even worth trying to go any further.
When I experienced the power loss, the exhaust would have a "wah wah wah wah" sound, very uneven. I thought it was because one of the mufflers had basically fallen apart and the flow was getting messed up. I had both mufflers replaced and all that did was make the broken sound clearer. (car is very loud in the first place.. only has header, presilencer, and two stainless steel packed mufflers.)
I replaced the Alternator, engine ground strap, and battery because I thought it was an electrical system issue (problem seemed worse when lights were on). Didn't seem to help much, if at all.
One day while driving, I started hearing a loud-ish clicking noise coming from the passenger side floorboard. It was very sporadic and had no definite pattern. I noticed that once this clicking sound stopped, the car could rev easily to redline in first through third gears without losing power. It would run fine until I turned off the car and then most of the time it would go back to being broken.
This problem has me completely baffled... have the secondary injector drivers in the ECU shorted out? What else could be the problem?
Thanks for reading! I hope to hear back soon so I can finally rid myself of this issue.
