'90 J-Spec TurboII direct replacement for '90 A-Spec TurboII?
I just got my White '90 TurboII yesterday and it needs a new engine (most definitely, haven't fiddled a whole lot, but it's not in that great shape..)
Anyhow, if I buy myself a later TurboII motor from corksport, is that going to be a direct replacement for the motor I've got in it now? Or is the wiring harness different, ECU, and all that jazz?
And yes I searched, and didn't find much useful (again). I suck at searching here.. what do you guys search for to find this crap?

What up.
It will work fine. The vacuum hose for the brake master cylinder will be on the manifold though (most likely). You can just run a longer hose or use your lower intake manifold off your old engine.

I've been wondering the same thing. What about emissions? I was planning on going J-Spec to replace my engine and I need to be able to pass emissions every two years. I was just going to strip the j-spec down to the core and put a-spec stuff on the block, but if I can just drop the j-spec in along with the a-spec harness then I would be much happier.

you wont pass emissions with that j-spec!!!! unless you atleast put your egr valve on it with the solenoid from you a spec engine. I just decided that when i puty mine in that i was gonna strip all the emissions stuff anyways. its a little tough to get inspected unless you have a friend thatll pass you anyways. so best bet make some friends at a shop and strip the emissions ****, you ll make more power when you do it too!

so, I have some options probably.. I could take the same year J-spec block (only the block) and swap it out, and put the A-spec accessories on it? That'd work fine?
How about take the J-spec intake, turbo, exhaust, and ECU (are all these different between the two?) and install all that J-spec stuff along with the J-spec block? All I'm really worried about is the ECU and wiring, cause even on my '80 the wiring sucks.

Okay, someone.. will the ECU and/or wiring need to be changed? Or can I keep my A-spec ECU/wiring and just drop in the whole J-spec engine?

all you needd to do to pass emissions is slap your egr valve and solenoid, your harness. you dont need to change maifolds or any of that bs. basically compare the engines and put on the stuff the jspec doesnt have.

I don't care about emissions.. I just want my car to run without spending extra $$$ on another harness or another ECU. Can I do this and how?

well, not SO close right now, I'm up in Michigan finishing up my last year of school.. be back in Euclid in Spring/Summer of 2003, maybe a little later.

just giving you the simplest answer to a simple question.
Emissions is a whole different story, But if you are like me, you dont have to worry about no 'stinkin emissions!

well.. Ohio is a funny place.. in SOME counties you have to get an E-Check.. if you fail it, you can take it again (I think for free), if you fail it again, you have to show $300 worth of receipts to show that you attempted to correct the problem. If you fail this time, then they just say "well you spent some $$ and tried, so it's all good"
