Does anyone know how, or if the shift **** from an 89-91 will fit on an 86-88 model shifter?? If it fits at all, would it give it the look of the 89-91, or woult it just stick out a foot from the transmission, Thanks.

 

Unless the **** is bigger around than the shifter, thus sliding over it to make it look taller, I would imagine you would need the 89-91 shifter if it wasnt like that. But RB sells a short shifter that fits 86-91, so I guess the 89-91 stock one would work.

 

It'll screw right on. I have a 3rd Gen **** on my GXL.

 

it wont work. i have an 89 gtu and an 87 gxl. the dia. on the 87 is larger than the shifter dia on the gtu. i switch mine out to the 89 on the 87 in order to use the 89 ***. now i got a momo. my 89 engine blew the seals.

 

I had to force an 89+ shift know on my 88 shifter. The threads were a different size.
