no lol, I've hear his horror story. Anyways this guys name, you guessed it Jose and he is from the miami area down here working on the wankles at the mazda place and then quit there to work on his own. He is the only guy around that works on rx8's. If he doesn't then mazda has to ship them to houston. Anyways I think your right karack I'll order after the inspection.

The last set I used (about 4 months ago), weren't a direct fit, they were a hair on the large side, so they required some serious coaxing to fit in the grooves, if you're careful enough they will fit and work just fine, but a lot of the times people pinch them and cut slices into them which cause them to fail shortly there after, this is why I suggest the FC3S rings since they're the proper metric size and fit without any troubles at all.

Honda, Why don't you do the work yourself?? If you get it apart the hard part is done. (getting it out taking all the intakes off etc.) If you break it open to inspect then the only thing left to do is clean, check hard seals for tolerances, and re-assemble. Buy the RA video and watch it one time. You'll see, it's not that hard.

well the reason I was going to have him do it is because I'd like to learn from someone before I do it myself. This way I learn how to do everything correctly ( I will be watching and hopefully doing most of the rebuild but with an experianced rebuilder ) I'm paying him mostly for teaching me how to rebuild. I also would more than likely mess up when it came to the port job and from what I've seen he is pretty damn good at it so I'll see if he can teach me that as well. I would just hate to do something wrong, this being my first time and all, and have something fail because I goofed and have to tear the engine back down and buy more stuff. You know what I"m saying? Anyways Sonic I am going to order the fc3s ones like you said because this guy is probably used to things that fit being he gets everything from atkins and mazda.

The video will walk you through step by step. and you can watch each step over and over until you get it.
Trust me, i had never even looked at a Rotary b4 I got my 7. I had no clue how the rotors and seals worked 11 months ago. That video was great, coupled with this board and the FSM, my motor started on the third crank, It now has 1700 trouble free miles on it and it is running strong. I'd rebuild another 13b in a heart beat over a piston engine now.

make sure that this guy is not connected. I find it hard that Two people from Texas area are:
A.) Puerto Rican
B.) Mazda engine experts from Miami area.
I can't speak for the Atkins video. The RA video (though boring) was great and left nothing out. When I watched for the first time. I was confused, but when I started taking the short block apart, the video made perfect sense from that point on. Watching Bruce (a real expert) measure each part was absolutley the best way for me to learn. Looking at the Haynes version, I realized that it would have been a Cluster @#$ had I tried to use it as a sole source. I would have spent weeks in somebodies shop trying to get the exact info that the video gave me.

cool, I really do want to start rebuilding my own engines but I wanted to make sure I was doing it correctly first. Oh how I would love to be able to **** an engine up and beable to yank the engine and rebuild it all for just the cost of parts. I've seen that Gabriel Gomez thread before but this guy I know is cool. We kind of just hit it right off because we are the only rotary guys in my town so when he needs something I have I hook him up and when he has something I need he hooks me up. Very cool guy.
