The passenger seat in my '88 Vert is stuck. Its been stuck since I bought it and i have no idea on why it is stuck. Like many convertibles, the top has leaked so I assumed that the base of the seat rusted in place.

Has anyone experienced this problem? Any suggestions?

 

Pull out the four bolts and look at the underneath and identify what you're up against.

There is a wire that runs from the outside rail to the inside one so both release when you pull up the release handle. The wire might have simply become disconnected or broken. If broken, you can simply use a wire coat hanger and make a replacement.

 

stuck as in it wont move forward from where it is?

 

Yes! It is stuck in place! Won't move forward, won't move back!

 

Something could be jammed into the seat rails, stray piece of carpet or what ever. careful with your fingers.

 

you would be surprised how many customers we get with stuck seats and it turns out to be a coin or pen stuck in the rail. or on toyotas the wire that connects the two rails together snaps

 

use a flash light and have a look under the seat to see what is going on.

 

It's only four 14MM head bolts between you and happiness. You'll more than likely have to pull the seat to fix what ever is the issue. So do it now, or do it later. But you're going to have to do it to fix it right. I don't know many people that have pulled and put back as many seats as I have.

 

i had a rusty one from a water leak all the years the car sat outside, so not that easy to remove and once it did the threads were done
