88 T2, help please
hi, i got an 89 gtu but my brother have a 88 t2 and whats wrong with it is that the car doesn't run right. the motor sound kinda wierd it also doesn't accelerate as normal. he said that when he was drive, all of a sudden the sound of the car changes and it doesn't respond right when he step on the gas.
we also changed the oil because it sure was dark. hoping that was the problem.
also when he reconnect his boost gages and put it on a different one then these problem started to occur. is it thats why it happen, that he mess with the boost pressure sensore. because he put an sti boost gage on and thats when the problem started to occur.any suggestion?
thanx for your help and time.

typically for the boost gauge, you want to route your vacuum source from the middle nipple on the back of the upper intake manifold (iirc). if you "T" lines off of your pressure sensor that goes from the side nipple of the upper intake manifold (i believe this "T's" with the twin scroll actuator running along the rear of the engine bay with a long steel vacuum line that runs to the passenger side of the engine bay--it just sticks up at you) and that actuator hard-line, then you could be depleting air needed to get an accurate reading from your pressure sensor (that little black box by your turbo inlet duct). but, im not sure if that is the case of what youre talking about. actually, do you have emissions equipment on your vehicle as well? if you do, that limits your vacuum sources for the boost gauge (plus you have all those other instances for vac leaks with the rats nest). i *believe* there is a diagram floating around for the best route for your boost gauge. ill try to post it up if i can find it. other than that, we really need to know where you have it running for a vac source. it sounds like you could have some vac lines mixed up and youre trying to fight two different pressure sources in one line. that happened to me when i first got my fmic set up installed last year--sucked real bad. speaking of which, what does your boost gauge say at idle? is it at -20hg, or more? if its more, you could have some lines mixed up. hope that helps any, and ill check for a proper diagram.

this is the only one i can find. but, i know there is a better one on this forum--i found it once before, but i changed computers since then. just do a search for "Boost gauge vacuum source" and you should find it. it seems if you dont have emissions, your best bet would be the two remaining nipples in the front of the uim.

it sounds like its not reading pressure correctly. you may want to check to make sure the pressure sensor is properly reinstalled. does it idle? i have to go, but you may want to check out your pressure sources...
