88 se oil problems and questions

88 se oil problems and questions
hey guys,
i bought an 88 se and like i get this big cloud of smoke when i punch it after 4-5k rpms, and it leaks oil by the front of the motor on the front housing sorta, i havent told my b/f yet becasue i wanna show him i know how to work on these cars heheheh i am not sure if that gasket thingy is torn or sumthing but i would apperciate sum help
as well i have a link i need to buy my b/f a 87-91 turbo II w/o a motor for him as a birthday preasent and as a projiect to keep him busy with the car and not other gurls hehehe any help would be great

Big cloud of smoke when punched @ 4k and above? Well:
If it's cold, you should NEVER take it above 4k. Yeah, yeah, a lotta guys do it, but from experience, don't.
If it does it ALL THE TIME (cold or hot), then you need new Oil Control Rings.
oil Leak up front? Front main seal or the front-cover gasket or a leaky metering oil pump (O-ring or Lines).

thankx guy,
no it just does it when it all the time when over 4k or so like i was thinking becasue the oil drips on the manifold that it smokes and maybe the smoke does it more as you go faster its wierd.....but yea it might be the front housing gasket like u were saying becasue i noticed 2 spots on each side symmetrical to each other
