'88 RX7 Convertible speaker wiring diagram
I purchased a 1988 RX7 convertible used, and the headrest speakers have never worked. All of the switches in the console appear to work. When I pulled the radio out, there appears to be a portion of the wiring harness missing. The person I bought the car from had installed an after-market radio and I believe they remove the part of the harness that goes to the headrest speakers. Does anyone out there have a diagram of the audio system's wiring or a picture of the wiring harness as it appears in the dash? Also, there is a plug on the back of the under-dash speaker amplifier, could this be where the headrest speakers connect? Please reply to drfalor@msn.com. Thanks, Dan Falor

Headrest Speakers
Hello-
I Have The Same Vehicle. I Do Not Have A Wiring Diagram But I Know The Wires From The Headrest Has To Run Down To The Center Console (next To The Power Mirrow Remote And Security Light If You Have These).
The Volume Control In The Center For The Headrests May Be Turned Down. Since You Have An Aftermarket Stereo, Your Best Bet Is To Pull Of Your Headrest - Undo The Zipper - Pull Out The Speaker - Run A Test Lead From Another Stereo To Make Sure The Speakers Work. If They Do - Trace The Wire From The Seat To The Center Console And Run New Leads From The Aftermarket Stereo To The Speakers *or* Disconnect To Wires (or Splice) And Run Some Light Power Source Down And Check The Other End With A Test Light.
When The New Stereo Was Installed, It Probably Did Not Incorporate The Headrest Speakers As I Believe The Volume Controls For The Headrest Is A Small Amplifier Built Into The Console (this Was My Prolem). Certainly Don't Spend Money On The Silly Control As It Would Be Much Less Expensive And Easier To Hook Up To The New Stereo.
Hope This Helps.
Sincerely,
Jim P.s. I Am In Dire Straights For A Window Lift Motor For Our Car - Let Me Know If You Know Someone With A Junk Car - Has To Be The Convertable. Thanks
