There's several angles to this.

Each requires a militmeter, preferably a digital one.

The easiest is to put a meter on the brown/white wire at the boost/pressure sensors plug (disconnected), with the key to ON. One meter lead on ground and the other on the brown/white wire. You should have appriox 5vdc.

Another is to go to the ECU's small plug and pull it off. Key to ON. Meter lead on a good ground and the other lead on pin 3J....then pin 3I. Each should have 12vdc approx. Then go to pins 3H, 3E, 3C. 3H. Each should have 12vdc.

There's another possibility if this engine has just been installed and never run. The grounds for the ECU are on a ring terminal on top of the rear rotor housing. If it was not bolted down, the engine will never start.

I'm not talking about that mickey mouse ground wire that runs from the wiper area to the housing, I'm talking about two to three wires on a ring terminal bolted to the housing. You cannot see them with the intake on the engine. At least not very well.

So if you have the 5vdc at the boost/pressure sensor, and the 12vdc at the pins mentioned above, then see if the ring terminal is attached to the block/housing or at least check the pins 2C, 2R, 3A, 3G at the ECU for having a good ground. Plugs off, meter lead on a good ground and touch each one to see if you have .5 ohms or less on each. KEY TO OFF when you do that.

Well, after we did what Hailers suggested we got some screwy readings. I knew the wiring harness in that car was good before. I poked around and noticed that one of the connectors that I thought I had plugged in was only half in. It was the one of the two long orange-yellow ones. One side was in, but the other was not. Very troublesome error that was not immediately visible.

Good Job Loq.

May I suggest one thing???? Pull that spark plug next time lay it on the housings and SEE if it sparks. Should've been the first thing you did. I am no expert but this is fundemental.

Thank goodness you didn't burn it.

We have no White Castles here!!

Mysterious unplugged wires?! I know the feeling, man--both the despair and the elation. Good job.
