87 TurboII bucks severely and then suddenly died... need help!
Hey I have an 87 TurboII with a 3" downpipe, 3" midpipe, 3" cat-back, custom intake, and Walbro 255 lph fuel pump, and today I was driving it and while I was gently cruising the car would jerk and buck horribly on the road, kind of like fuel was getting cut and the engine would suddenly have no power, I tried to give it gas but it felt like it was gonna die, then it suddenly went back to normal. It did this several times during the day, then on the 4th or 5th time when it was jerking and bucking and it lost power and felt like it was gonna die, it actually did. I pulled it to the side, waited a second, and tried to start it, but evertime I tried to start it, it would suddenly start, then die immediately, it seemed like it was flooded, but when my car would flood it would usually not even come close to starting, it would just crank over and over. But this odd time it would sound like it started up, then die immediately even with the gas pedal floored. It also smelled like gas a little everytime I tried to start it, again very similar to it flooding out. I tried to start it a few times with no luck. Then I remembered the fuel cut switch that my mechanics made for me when I was having some flooding problems a month or two ago. So I used the switch and magically the car started. But what Im thinkin is how could my car have flooded out on me while it was running and I was driving it. The bucking felt like a severe fuel cut, but I wasn't anywhere near boost, I was cruising at like 2500 rpm. This is really weird, a few months ago my Rex was flooding out a lot, and it would sound like it was running on one rotor when I first started it up at times, then it would clear out. But for the past 2 or 3 weeks I had no starting problems at all, like it magically went away, for the past 3 weeks it was starting up every time, no flooding at all, and now all of a sudden this happens. Can anyone help me out here?

you can try testing the TPS and see if its within spec...that might be causing the severe bucking. my T2 was doing that (probably still would be if i took it out and drove it)...so i'm awaiting a new TPS since mine was way outta wack. the flooding i don't have a clue on. you can try posting something on www.teamfc3s.org and see if they have any input. here is the TPS site http://www.k2rd.com/FC3S/HOWTO/TPS/tps.html good luck man...lemme know how it turns out
