87 RX7 Engine Problem?????
Hi, I just bought this car 2 weeks ago and since had to replace fuel pump, fuel filter, and had to clean injectors. It wasn't getting gas to the injectors now injectors were clogged, had them proffessionaly cleaned. My question is the guy told me that he couldn't start right off, but he could with starting fluid, I am getting gas down into the engine now. But it will not start, it kind of putters, like it's about to start, but does not, also if I look back while I'm cranking it, there is a lot of smoke coming from, the exhaust, and I am getting spark. I heard that these car's like to be push started but mine is automatic, so I don't think you can push start it. I sure would love any advice. I have not done an engine compression check, or gas compression, but both seem to have very good compression. I also forgot to mention that it was sitting for 4 years.

I did a search. This link explains it.

I just got back from taking a vacation to Niagra Falls. I started it up first thing today, and, what do you know it ran. First time I have ever heard a rotary engine. It took a little bit to get it to start. It did also smoke A LOTTT!!! A bunch of my neighbors came running out to watch, and my mom actually thought my car was on FIRE. But now I have a problem, it will not idle at all, it just goes all the way down to zero on the tach, and eventually dies. I checked all vacuum lines and they are all in the correct order. I noticed that the oil pressure seemed a little, high, it was almost to the top, maybe a line or two. And there was also, a problem I never did tell about, i forgot to mention. The guy I bought it off of told me when he bought it, the transmission was bad, so that is why he left it sit. And now today, when it ran, I tried to put it in gear but it would not work correctly. When I put it in reverse, it would move a few inches and then halt, to a screeching stop. And when I put it in Drive it doesn't budge but I did hear the drive shaft kind of make a noise. I want to make sure this probably was the tranny before I replace it. I thought it could maybe be the brakes sticking but we towed it home, and you can move it fairly easy, so I don't think its the brakes.

I think I fixed the Idle problem, I found a hose that must have come off when I had taken the Dynamic Chamber off. I just looked again today, and I saw a silver pipe coming off the chamber, found tube that went on it, and put it on, I just have not had time to try it yet. Also isn't there suppose to be 4 hoses coming off the BAC, I only have 3, and it looks like there is a place for the 4th.
