87-88 T2 and 88-89 T2 engine differences?

I appologize if this has been answered, but I could not find it on searches. What is the differences between the 87/88 and 89 up turbo 2 engines? The 89 up is more expensive and I was just trying to figure out if it is a better engine for my swap. Thanks

S4 is a mechanical OMP and the S5 is electronic. If it comes with the turbo then the S5 has the bigger wastgate.
