First time I ever had a problem with leaking fuel hoses was on a trip from Corpus Christi to Ft Worth. I had a faint smell of fuel all the way to Ft Worth. Pulled the upper manifold and jumpered the check connector. I had what seemed to be a pin ***** in the hose from the lower to upper fuel rail. It sprayed a fine mist when pressurized. Old hoses I reckon. Replace all while there. Just makes sense. That's when I found out fuel injection hose cost quite a bit more than standard non fuel injection hose.

Non fuel injection hose get??? what??? ten fifteen lbs/in and fuel injection hose around 70-80 psi.
yep, I bet they don't even know why ... I swear the AZ guy said this works so it must work ... right ?

When I told that AZ "know it all" guy that "Fuel injection hose" is NOT the same as "Fuel Hose", he looked at me like I'm a moron and told me it's the same customer never came back to complaint yada yada yada ...

Yep, whatever. give me 5 feet of the FUEL INJECTION HOSE.

I replaced all of the other ones before so I just used about 1 foot to replace the return hose from the rack to the tank. might not need FI hose for that but whatever, just 4 bux.

save the rest to install some fuel pressure gauge for my rx-8 in the near future.

Just make sure when you go buy some new rubber hose for fuel, remember you MUST BUY FUEL INJECTION HOSE! NOT FUEL HOSE! THEY ARE DIFFERENT !

2 weeks ago I went to an Autozone to get a few more ft of Fuel Injection Hose, the idiot there (maybe in his 40-50s) said he couldn't find it, and he said he has some Fuel hose, it's the same thing, and he has been working for AZ for 10 years and never had any customers come back and complaint ...

I was thinking like yeaaaa, sure, those poor suckers probably wonder why their car burst up in flames and everything just burn up and never thought it's the "FUEL HOSE" that blew up and killed their ride.

so I told him no, I'm not buying Fuel Hose.

I walked to the back with him, and I spot the roll of Fuel Injection hose just right behind the roll he was holding at ...

That explains why he has to work at Autozone for the past 10+ years and NEVER got a promotion ...

i would have taken it a step further and chastised him for selling the wrong part to unknowing customers. yes as you said that is a severe hazard he just admitted to selling to people.

there is a big difference between the 2 hoses, regular hose may work short term but it doesn't last.

i left most of the story out as he just repeats over and over how he has been a parts guy for so long, selling products that works perfectly fine like the fuel hose for fuel injection purposes, so many happy customers yadayada ... and I'm wrong i don't know what I'm talking about ...

but autozone is really for ppl who doesn't know ****, when i was there i saw this dude went in, walk straight to the so called performance section, picked up their omg performance cone filter, pay for it, went out to his accord(vtec y0!) in the parking lot, then he noticed the car has stock air box a cone filter can't fit like that ...and go back for a return. if u see his face expression like omg it doesn't fit u be laughing ur *** off.

karack, maybe i should write an email to the corporate and tell them what happen. probably not gonna do much but at least that should teach those suckers that fuel hose is not the same as fuel injection hose, even tho they are both rubber. lol

there are cheaper ways to fix it, depends if u have a s4 or s5

i have s5, don't really need a new one, but i bought a new one anyway and replace the one came with the car, i don't know the history of it and if i can effort an almost all brand new engine except rotors and e shaft, i think can afford a new fpd

yes and even a step further, many of the hoses you get with these fuel pump kits aren't even submersible hose. i've pulled pumps out after a year to find them splitting like a banana peel.

problem is most of the so called "parts specialists" don't know jack ****. i always check a part before i leave the store and check the hose i recieve regardless of whether they tell me it is right and they ALWAYS get bent out of shape when you call them on something. funny thing is it is so rare that any of them know what a rotary engine is compared to conventional cylinder engines. i often have to run to the store to get something random and it's always a hassle, after wasting trips back and forth i have lost all patience with ignorance.

i only give them the benefit of courtesy knowing they don't make squat, but they still make more than i do so... i'll be damned if anyone gives me lip like i'm going to accept the wrong ****. i'm really not that arrogant but i do feel ignorance/laziness should be painful, i'm more than beyond tired of paying for other people's mistakes.

i've seen the hose you're referring to on more fuel injected 7's than i care to count and it bothers me knowing the clerks didn't bother to ask or give the correct hose even when asked.

i'm sort of amazed the auto parts stores even still stock non fuel injection hose... which is why for fuel hose i go to BMW or Mercedes, you get actual 8mm hose in a 1 meter length, they have it in stock and its probably the same price as the **** chain stores

i don't know either, it's only marginally more expensive than low pressure line and they would make more money and offer a more reliable product.

but it doesn't surprise me.. one time i had to visit 4 stores to find vacuum line to fit these rat's nests and it is a common size! i was starting to get pissed off, do people not ever replace vacuum lines?
