is the 86 pulsation damper different from 88?

are the 86 and 88 pulsation dampers different from each other? I have 2 different fuel rails an one has the plastic PD and the other has a metal one?

They are the same. The plastic is a cap that is on all of the S4 PDs. It is to keep anything from interfering with the travel screws operation.

If one of your S4 PDs doesn't have the cap; it has fallen off or been removed.
