a red top sr20det appears to be out of some 1991-1995 s13's.
the BLACK top seems to be out of some of the s14's and s15's.

the black tops are more expensive, so they are probably more powerful

wrong
red top is 91-93 only. black top is from the rps13 180sx hatch from 94-98
there is no difference between the motor. one is just far far newer.

Yeah...lots of misinformation, but I'm not going to get my panties in a bunch, cause this is an RX-7 forum.

The red top is one of the earliest SR20DET motors out there.&nbsp The black top motors are from the S14.&nbsp I think the S15 is a silver top?&nbsp Am I getting my 4AGE info confused with the SR20 stuff???

The later motors make more power.&nbsp Maybe higher compression?

The latest SR20 family incorporates VVT (variable valve timing) which gives it even more power.&nbsp SR20DEV?

Hell, I might be even wrong myself!

well since you quoted driftin jim you might want to at least get your info correct. s14 and s15 motors are ne'er refered to as 'black top' that it only made for the distinction of s13s....

InitialDFC - do you have any pics of your car which are well-lit? I'm really curious to see how the lines of the front bumper mesh with the car's lines, but I haven't ever seen a good pic!

Easier to pass smog (California and other west coast states) 4. I believe that it would be about the same price 5. And it would look just damn cool. Those are my opnions but you can know me down and beat me with a stick trying to tell me that this wouldn't work while I wil be making vette's and ss camaros like a thing of the past (notice i didn't say anything about a Mustang).

Quick Reply: 86-92 RX-7 (with a 13B rev engine) or a 240SX (with a SR20DET engine)?
