i have a guy trying to sell me this and he isn't sure if it is from 86-88 or 89-91 and he isn't sure if it came from a tII but he did say it was from a j-spec but here are the pics if anyone knows what type this is please let me know

OK, I've had a bit of a think about this. If you check the FSM it gives figures for what the resistance between the relevant terminals on the AFM should be when fully closed and fully open (86-88 type). If the figures for the Series 5 AFM are close enough (Scott, how you going with that Series 5 FSM?!), then it might work once you got the wiring sorted (simple enough). If they're not, give up now, as electronic modifications would be required. But even then the relationship between the output voltage and airflow may not be the same between these two extremes. And just to complicate things, the later unit probably has a higher "capacity", in that it can measure higher airflow before the sliding bullet reaches its mechanical stop, which means even if the resistances match up, it'll be sending incorrect meassages to the ECU. Have you put this in the too-hard basket yet?! Hopefully someone out there has tried this and can confirm or correct my ideas.
