6port actuator problem

ive been trying to fix my hesitation problem, when i decided to check my 6ports. i looked down at the actuators to check em, and revved the engine. nothing moved. they sat there and looked stupid at me... any ideas? if not... how much do actuators cost? and how do i test em?
also- could this be the cause of my hesitiation?
thanks in advance, im really startin to get frustrated

The cause of hesistation.....NO. Hesitation is caused by: bad electrical grounds or bad/dirty injectors. See http://www.home.earthlink.net/~burntoast/3700.html for grounds. For cleaning the actuators see the post above this one.

Just walk out to your car and press with your thumb or whatever finger you choose, on top of the rod that is coming out of the actuator. With some pressure, the rod should move into the actuator. If it does not, then it is stuck and sleeves inside the intake manifold *might* need cleaning. I'd take the actuator off (just two 10mm nuts) and with the actuator on a bench see if the rod will shove into the actuator. If not, rap the shaft on a piece of wood to loosen it up til it retracts with finger pressure and extend on its own.

If you can get the actuator to do that, then go to the manifold and see if you can rotate the arm that attaches to the actuators. Rotate it several times and see if you can get it to move with little pressure. Like your little finger to move it.

Before you do any of the above you might just get a shop air hose and blow into the feed line for the actuators (located just aft of the rear actuator) and see if the actuators will move i.e. retract.

I'll second what Hailers posted above about testing the actuators... Grab a piece if 1/8" tubing and connect it to the 6-port actuator. Blow real hard. You should be able to make them move without to much problem.

FYI: Reving the car in the driveway will not open the 6-ports.

About aux port actuators..........I've seen ones you can't shove the piston rod in. I mean stuck hard. I've rapped them on a piece of wood until the corrosion broke loose and worked them several times until you could shove them in with your thumb and they would return under their spring pressure.

To test if the internal diaphram is busted inside, shove the piston rod in and while holding it in, put your finger over the air feed hole on the mating side. Then stop shoving the rod in. The piston should stay retracted if the diaphram is good. Reinstall on the car if that's the case. Do not go out and buy new actuators. Never seen a bad one yet. Not that I get around that much.

Yeah, I've done that job where you get some vac tubing and blow into the feed hole to actuate them. Nearly busts my cheeks to do it though. Results of too much smoking I reckon.

You have to blow pretty damn hard to get those suckers to budge. I have had more than a few headaches while working with those.
