Right. I though you were saying that you pulled on them, and they should only twist left and right. Anyway, a clogged cat can be the problem, but it can also just be random crud. Get a Hayne's manual, and it will tell you the procedure for cleaning them. Basiclly, pull the manifolds, and start cleaning!!

the engine has 60 miles on it....i dont think they dirty...
all i want to know is how does an opened actuator looks like...extended or not...cuz if my cats are clogged....there`d be constant pressure to keep them opened....

Well, the rear one will point back, and the front one will point forward when opened all the time. Could very well be a clogged cat if the engine is new.

Out. Pressure pushes it out. Man, I am sorry for being retarded. You were asking about the actuators the whole time, and I was thinking about the sleeves themselves. Sorry man. Damn I am retarded!!!

Well, hmmm. Good chance it could be cats. Check that out, and see. I can't think of a reason why they would be open all the time. If there was a vac leak or something, then I could see them staying closed, but not open. No clue bro.

They are closed till 3850 RPM (if memory serves me correctly). They open as backpressure from the cat builds. If there is too much back pressure, then that would induce them being open all the time. Now if they are open when the car is off. Than that is a whole new set of problems/reasons.

Good idea. However, the ports will no longer work w/o a cat (considering they don't do that now). Personally, I have wired open my ports, and will soon be pulling the manifolds to port em, and will be removing the sleeves permanantly. Nice top end feel, slight loss in low end torque.

thats fucked up but it makes more sense now...
its a S4
so you're saying that I can`t use S5 actuators in a S4 because they dont open up the same way....i'll take em off and wire them open so i can get rid of the air pump and acv

That is weird. I wish HAILERS or Ted would show up and get all technical with this one. It makes no sense to me why that would work. But hell, like I said, screw the ports!! Who needs em!!
