6-port or 4-port for high-RPM?

So, I get to start from scratch. So, I wonder...

I know the 6-port has more timing on the endplates; but over-all, but the 4-port can be made pretty large, and would flow better.

The limits are; I want some good engine life out of it; so PP's and Bridgeports couldn't be used. Likely the most porting the engine will see is a large (for it's type) streetport.

In short, lacking a bridgeport or pp, which engine has the most potental as a high-RPM race engine? (As an IDA setup could be in the future)

Tell me what you think... ~Colby

High rpm race? Probably a big street port if you won't be bridging it. I doubt four port vs six port matters at this point . . both have their merits like you say. I, personally, would do a large streeted six port engine, but you already know that, because I already did it (medium sp at least).

Im not sure that any types of racing would allow an engine to be modified as far as a four ported 6 port motor. But ill let you know that they haul some serious ***. The top end is INCREDIBLE, way much harder than stock ports (for those who dont know this is the same car that pulled 14.6 on stock ports, and the motor i put in pulls way harder than that one did).

i would say 6 port. Since youre going IDA, theres not much point in keeping the 6 port a 6 port. Ive got a set of end plates with the ports and runners ported into one big port. I was going to build a turbo motor out with them, but plans changed, and I now have no use for the end plates. I would be more than happy to sell them.

Just as much as I am. No insult, but how many engines have you built? Less than a dozen? How many were borderline race engines? Standalone? Bareblock? That's why I wanna get an opinion from a higher-up than you or I, who might have some experience in this.

Didn't say you wern't part of the way there... just not THERE.

You're doing the same thing I am on a 6-port right? MS + Big Streetport? I might stick w/ 4-port just so we can compare the 2. No matter what, this engine will have more HP than my last.

Yeah, I have a big SP 6 port. You planning on copying my exhaust? You will want to if you plan on running lots of nitrous.

btw, are you ever on AIM? I havent seen you on yet.

you have to be on my BL to IM me

I have you on it as AF21479

And as per the exhaust, nope. I'm just putting an exhaust cutout between the header and the fake-cat.

i don't post much, but....

if u want the engine revving high, and safely, i would suggest a full balancing of rotors, and eccentric shaft, and go for either the 6 port, or a large streetport. and have it tuned perfectly.
