5PSI max w/some modes!?
i have a s4 TII. i have a exhaust and 3"TID installed on my car. im only seeing 5psi. i thought after those upgrades the boost would rise?
my wastegate is not ported. i have a mitsubshi bov if that matters put on by previous owner. air pump was removed by previous owner also. i check the hoses running to the TMIC and they seem to be fine. It boosts fine to 5psi but after that it doesnt go any higher and i tried in 3rd gear to 4k and still the same.

With those mods and a stock wastegate you should be banging into the fuel cut at 8.6psi if you don't have an FCD or seeing 15+psi if you do. Assuming you don't have a stock (i.e. completely clogged) cat, you should check to see it's not a problem with the boost gauge and then check out the condition of your turbo by pulling off the TID and checking for excessive shaft movement.

Yeah that's odd. I have just a single cat in my exhaust stream with stock intake and I'm hitting 9 PSI at WOT.
Then again mine's jspec but I don't see why that'd make much difference.. Maybe you've got a hella vacuum leak somewhere.

Pretty much what I told you is mentioned here huh....
We'll have a REAL look at it next time...
Wild Guess. you got those holes everywhere hehe.. TID,IC PIPE,Wierd DuctTape around the Turbo Mouth. What's the reason why you have that extra AFM? Maybe you can try out my MapSensor.. but I don't think there's anything wrong with yours...
You said there was no shaft play when you fingered it.. right??

Bite the bullet and get the Rtek 2.0 ECU upgrade. Then you can hook up almost any Palm OS PDA and see what is going on. It offers built in "fuel cut defensor" and complete diagnostic capabilities for a reasonable price $399. www.digitaltuning.com
We're hoping to get our own subforum so that we can share information about tuning our 87 and 88 Turbo FC's.

^ Correct me if I'm wrong, but did you suggest alot of RTEK 2.0 to many threads here to solve their problems? Was that you? Sounds like you're advertising it or something, and that the RTEK 2.0 will solve everything...
I have no comments with the RTEK since I have no experience with them, just read infos. and seems to be alright..

well alot of my frends are DSMers.. you said you have a mitsu blow off valve.. THEY ACTUALLY CRUSH them to tighting the spring in the BOV. if its weak it would limit your boost. try to flatten in.. thats right hammer it.. im not BSing you... you can find articles on the net im sure.. the pint of doing this is to increase spring tension to make the bov more resistant to boost pressure pushing it open..

do you have an aftermarket boost gauge or are you using the factory one? if you're using the factory one, its only gonna show 5psi with a fcd on it because the fcd tricks the ecu into believing it tops out at 5psi or actually should be set to about 8.5psi where the fuel cut is at.

He has an AfterMarket Boost Gauge and an FCD.
Wheter the FCD is connected or not, still 5PSI.
Take a pic of you engine: TID/BOV/AFM/ICpIPE. Maybe there's a clue there.
I really see some weird things there.

When you the 5psi does the car star to run ruff, and you see a bit of black smoke coming from the tail pipe? If so perhaps your BOV is venting off the boost.
When do you get full boost (5psi)? Is it before 3k? If not when? If it is higher then 4k then either your wastegate is stuck open or your turbo is dieing off.
Check the wastegate to make sure the rod is still connected, I seen some with the clip missisng allowing the rod to come off the wastegate lever.
Not more much more really.. MAP, AFM, or even a Rtek will fix it.
And to the guy advertising the Rtek, that has NOTHING to do with his problem. So if you don't have anything usefull, please don't post.
As for the pictures, there is nothing I could see thats would cause this problem.
Hope this info helps.
