that too Wouldn't be so good if you hit the clutch and the car went revving away trying to get up to speed, haha I can just see it now!

Here is the way I see it;
Your cruise control doesn't know you have a 5 speed. So I don't think the clutch switch is the problem
(I do think you need a clutch switch)
So, when you were working on the pedals did you disturb the switch on the brake pedal? If that is not adjusted correctly the cruise won't engage.

there are 2 inputs on the ecu, if the ecu doesn't have an input from either switch, default is 'clutch down or park/neutral' that way if the switch does south you can still start and drive the car (less cruise)

*edit* Cruise works on my t2, but the clutch switch is broken..(starts without clutch down)

I'd hook it up anyways, I'm pretty sure the wiring is already in the car... just have to install switch

Like I said, more than likely the neutral switch

I'll send you the diff for the cost of shipping plus $20 for packaging. (it'll need a crate) It's yours complete if you want it. Or anyone else for that matter.
well with the 3.9 diffy u can get up to 160 before hitting 7k, (i know before test driving i put it on a lift and floored it , it hit 160 and buzzer didn't go off,and my cluster red lines at 7 k cause its the one from the auto), it sounds intresting swaping and just paying shipping, it will have to wait till atleast jan though with all the holidays and all our school closes for a month for xmas.

cruise control:
well i never installed the clutch switch but i will check it out tomorrow, i never messed with the brake one(becides unpluging it) , so i don't think that is it .and when school reopens next week i wil try my best to get the reverse lights, and nutral switch hooked up

once agian thanks for all the help guys i don't know what i would do with out yall

Well, I'm contemplating swapping a tranny with a 17% OD 6th and losing the 31% OD 5th is now. My engine will have power beyond 9500 and I'm sure with the taller rear gears and more favorable ratios it'll be doing well beyond 160.

With the 4.10's if I could get up to the power band I'm sure 170 would be an accessible goal. The problem is the 2K gap in the sweet spot of my power band seen upshifting from 4th at 140mph. If there was only another gear to bridge the two we'd have some hella fast N/A's.

I should really look into the twin turbo supra tranny that another member alerted me to in a thread on here the other day. They're mated to the 2JZ-GTE engines so they should handle all the power I can throw at it. (planning either 6-port turbo or 200 shot of juice) I just need to play with the final drive ratios with different diff gearing to make sure I'm not above 3500rpm @80 or I'll go deaf driving it.

CRUISE CONTROL SOLUTION

Yep... been there, done that.

My 86 used to be an automatic. I did the conversion to the 5-speed and the cruise control didn't work. After about an hour of studing the FSM, the problem became clear...and it's not the neutral switch!

Do yourself a favor and pull the plug out of the Cruise Control CPU. On the plug you will see 2 rows of wires. One row with 6 wires, the other row with 7 wires.

ON THE ROW WITH 7 wires, you need to CUT two wires. The wires you need to cut are the second wires in from the end of the row. After you cut these two wires, the cruise control will work. Done. Guaranteed. Have a nice day.

The cruise control unit is located in the driver side kick panel. It's pictured in the FSM

congrats! good thing you did the swap, I just could NOT BE HAPPY WITH AN AUTOMATIC SPORTS CAR! If only Mazda made all 7s manuals but at least all T2's are, it makes searchign for one easier

Not all T2's are 5 speeds, some of the japanese turbo's were automatics I always thought the series 5 cruise control box was on the steering column

Well, it seems I am wrong, it should be under your kick panel, but I don't think they have the same wiring between series, I'm looking at the FSM and trying to figure it out at the moment, so hold on.

Yeah, ours have 10 wire row & a 8 wire row with a space in the middle of the 8 wire row... I'm going to figure out what wires he cut and see if it can be done as well on the 89+

That's what the connector looks like, I'll give you a list of what each connector is in a second, still trying to find out which wires he snipped on the S4.

Damn thing doesn't want to parse right, the ???'s should be a empty space

But you see, the series 4 only has 7 pin rows, unlike the series 5 10 pin rows, which means they are different. I can't find a description for the pins on the series 4 one, unlike that of the series 5, so I'm not sure which is cut yet, but I'm still looking.

Yeehaw I found it!!!! woooo! I'm going to put it together into one post so you can see the two of them and then we'll figure out what each wire is at the same time so I won't respond for a bit while I write it all out, just wanted you to know I found out what each wire was.
