5 lug conversion without 4 piston calipers?

My 88 se has 5 lug wheels, but doesn't appear to have the 4 piston calipers. Is it possible to do the 5 lug conversion and keep the old calipers? Isn't the main (if not ONLY) reason for doing the conversion to get the 4 piston calipers??

Oh... in case its not obvious, the previous owner did the 5 lug conversion.

why would you want the single piston and 5 lug?

That's what i'm wondering! I don't know why they went to the trouble to switch to the 5 lug without changing to the 4 piston calipers.

All of the S5's were 5 lug, but not all had the 4 piston brakes. There were versions with single piston calipers and solid rear rotors. To switch to the 4 piston setup you need to change the front calipers (discs are the same), brrake lines if they're old (safety, but you can use single piston lines on 4 piston calipers), rear brake rotors, rear calipers and caliper bracket (they're wider) and brake lines if they're old (again, safety, lines are the same). You'll need different pads for the front, but the rear pads are the same. I'd reccomend against getting used calipers and just putting them on, rebuild them frist.

Are the 4 piston calipers off an S5 as lightweight as the TII ones?

So you're saying whoever did the swap on my car probably used S5/5 lug with single piston calipers? OK, that answers my question. Thanks!
