350 is seen all the time with the right mods. hell, i see 400s sometimes and very few 500s. But the point is that el camino is wack and you should smoke it.

El Camino = Fatty.

FC with 300 horsepower (with the right driver) will SMOKE an El Camino (even with a good driver) that is putting down 400+ hp. Easy peasy.

Want 300?
-BNR Hybrid Turbo, 3 or 4
-Koyo Radiator
-720 secondary fuel injectors (1680 if you ever plan on going BIG power, the standalone you can turn them down )
-Full 3" exhaust (Corksport if you don't mind it being really loud, Racing Beat if you want a sexy, deep growl)
-Standalone Engine Management System (Haltech or Megasquirt )
-A better TID than stock, ditch you're airpump for a more straight-shot to the CONE filter.
-93 octane

This is MORE then enough for 300 horsepower, by a LONG shot. This will be both reliable AND powerful. You can turn the boost way down on that BNR, and have 300 horsepower on tap.

If you really want to smoke this guy, do a few more things...
-Weight reduction. You can a LOT of stuff on these FC's. Taking out the hatch carpet reveals a layer of "tar" that is used as both sound deadening and protection against rain etc. Chip it off, and sand down to bare metal. Primer, and coat with truck bed liner, or something like that. Protection from rain and misc....and not heavy whatsoever. Time consuming, but it is just another step in weight reduction.
-Remove everything that you don't need, or that you don't want as creature comforts. A common item to be removed is the POWER STEERING. Go for it. If you want to drive the car often..don't remove the AC. I was going to, until I found out it runs the defrost
-As stated earlier, remove the air pump. It's a waste of time to have it on a T2, except to pass emissions.
-The same gutting of the interior tar can be used under the front seats.
-The same gutting technique can be used for the UNDERSIDE of the car. Much more time consuming, as there is quite a lot of area to cover. You may want to use a lift, or you're body might be hard to move for a few days, as was the case for Aaron Cake .

Sorry for the nastily-long post. But doing all this will ensure you a SMOKING victory over this muscle-head. It will also be a VERY pleasing car to drive. Hid 454 Suburan, I am sure, would be CRYING, if not CHOKING with tears.
