33mm offset close enough to 40mm?

Hi Team,
1. I have a '87 RX7 with the SE wheel set: 14" 4 x 100 / 40mm offset.
Wanted to use my BBS / Mahle wheels with 14" 4 x100 / 33mm offet.
Problems? premature tire wear? strain on wheel components? Unsafe? or close enough?

2. I wanted to use my 14 tires that are 60 series vs. the stock 70 series...
Problems other than speedo ??

thanks for all your thoughts.

As alexdimen said, unless you got some kinda custom hubs, the stock FC 4-bolt pattern is 4 x 114.3mm.

Now, wheel diameter don't tell us anything.

Offset and WHEEL WIDTH would help.
You mention offsets, but it's useless you mention wheel width.

14" don't come too wide, so I'd imaging they are between 6.0" to 7.0" wide...
With a width in between those numbers, +33 is fine.
Hell, you can run a 14" x 7.5" (never seen such a wheel myself) with a +33, and it'll still fit.
You should be fine.

BTW, 25.4mm = 1 inch.
Therefore, 40mm - 33mm = 7mm.
7mm is slightly more than 1/4".

the "se" wheels are 5.5" wide.

the muscle car people are the ones that have the 14x16" wheels, check it out, bf goodrich makes 285/50/14's; those and some astroturf and your 73 el camino is all set!

Thanks - wrong wheel - right comments

Team.
Okay, it's clear The 4 x 100 won't fit, I was given wrong info. and so my nice BBS won't fit after all, so all bets and questions are off. However, yes, now I understand that offset is directly proportional to physical wheel width. So your comments were valuable and mucho appreciated. Am now looking for a nice suitable wheelset for the 4 bolt hub unless I get brave and tackle the conversion.... Thanks. Someguyinohio.

You can find a decent looking set of 16x7 +40 (Stock TII size Wheel) in the 4x114.3 bolt pattern if you look hard enough. Most people like to go wider, though.

+1.

I said you could find a set that would fit the 4 lug bolt pattern, that was the same exact size + offset as a stock TII wheel.
