3 inch exhaust, NO SAFC!??!
i want to put in a 3" exhaust on my BONE STOCK 90 TII
i do not want to blow my engine NOR do i want to buy all this extra BS just cuz of the exhaust
BS = SAFC, 720's, FCD, FPR, pump, TID, cone filter, etc
i DO NOT want 300+bhp, i am basically doing this mod for reliability reasons
(i got a great deal on the exhaust, so 3" is a must)
would i be able to ONLY put in the exhaust & leave everything else without compromising the integrity of my engine???
if not, what would be the simplest/most minimal way to put the exhaust on while avoiding a blown up engine?

with a full 3" exhuast and stock intake you'd probably be hiting around 9-10psi. thats what I hit. so you'll probbaly need the FCD. and I would recommand a fuel pump and rewire it. but injectors and S-afc would not be needed.
if you put a custom cat in. that would drop you back to the stock 8. and you wouldn't need the or pump.

here's the exhaust setup:
RB downpipe & presilencer
custom 3" piping to a single tip with stock-ish muffler
would the presilencer be good enough to drop boost levels to 8??

doubtful, you'd be hovering right around fuel cut. If you keep the stock intake, with the dual wastegate passage effeciency of the s5 t2 and 3'' exhuast like Scott said you should be around 9-10 pounds. You can get used FCD's for like 50 bucks and a walbro goes for 90 bucks on group buy. The FCD takes a whole 5 seconds to install, literally. The fuel pump isn't hard at all either. With basic tools and any sort of mechanical inclination the most time the fuel pump swap should take is about 30 minutes.

no.. a presilencer.. is only slightly more restirctive then a straight pipe...
if you want to eliminate boost creep put the stock air box back in with the stock filter and install a cat.
at this point, i fail to see the reason why you would want a 3 inch exhaust system, since you are choking what you are trying to free up...
either you are in or you are out... there aren't in betweens

Ya spend the $200 and do it right and save your engine. Just wait until you have the $200 (however long it takes) to get the stuff and keep the exhaust off the car until then.

i dont want to DYNO TUNE my car just cuz i put in an exhaust, im not even looking for crazy power
btw, would i need a fuel pressure regulator since i'm upgrading the pump??

At least in the s4 the FPD's have a stupid little screw on the end that tends to come out over time. Mine did and it leaked fuel all over the engine bay, luckily nothing happend and no fire. Anywho, the s5 one's don't have the screw and I think they're supposed to be more reliable because of it. That's why i'm gonna switch mine with my friends s5 lower rail so I can get the "good" FPD.

forgive me, Im new, but Im planning on dropping a fresh motor, a 3" apex exhaust, a FCD and a HKS intake, will I need to do the fuel pump too? If so what fuel pump am I looking at? and how will a down pipe and pre silencer affect my boost levels?

I had the setup you did, and I was running a high flow pump. Its a good idea to put one in.
A steal at only $120 from the Rx7 Store.

You looking at boost levels around 10-12 psi. Thats riding the line of dangerous for the stock fuel injectors/ecu. It would be a good idea to port the wastegate on your turbo while you have the motor out. Id still have a motor today if I did. If you have a few extra $, id get an S-AFC off ebay too, you can probably find a used one for a decent price.

Some big time fuel system distributor by my house threw like 50 of the Walbros away. He said they were crap. Theyre not crap, he just sells alot of **** to race teams making them useless to him. It sucks. I wouldve snatched one up if mine wasnt on the way then. Plus they were gone by time I heard about it.
BTW that pump is a steal at $85, I suggest you get one.

With the intake, dp and presilencer (assuming those replace the cat) and the apexi cat back you would probably boost to 10#s )creep to 12 or 13 on a really cold night). You could possibly sneak by with the stock pump. However, like I said before there is a guy selling 255lph walbro pumps on ebay for 85$. That is the cheapest Ive seen them. If you are going to do more mods in the future, get the pump now. Hell Id get it even if you werent doing more mods. Your stocker is like 16 years old, its going to crap out sooner or later
I wasnt aware there was a walbro 255lph high pressure and low pressure pump. Are you thinking of the walbro 190lph pump?
Are they the high pressure or low pressure ones?

I was under the impression alot of people were having problems with a version of the 255lph one. From what ive heard/seen/read theres 2 different ones. I could be wrong though.

Keep Right Except to Pass
Yeah, there's a high pressure one for EFI & a low for carbs. It's the GSS341 that you want.
I've got a few thousand miles on my Walbro/stock FPR and am having no problems. It overwhelms it by 2-3 lbs. on my rig.
Port the Hell out of your wastegate orifices and then get a MBC to put boost where you want it.
