2nd Generation with Starting Problems, Help!

Ok,
I have not purchased this car yet, but I am thinking about buying it. It is a 1987 with a brand new engine put in it. The care unluckly is an auto. The car looks like new. I am looking to buy it from a couple who drove it like they were in their 70's. The only proble with the car is that after you make a few stops (at stores) so you turn the car on and off. After about 5 times (that varies) the car will not turn on, unless you let it cool off for about 20 min.
Has anyone else ever had the same problem that they might be able to pinpoint me in some sort of direction.

The car is only 1200 bucks. So I can not go wrong. No rust or scratches. This car looks like new.

Please any help would be great.

it sounds like it is just flooding out. If u let it run longer before u drive it then it should be alright. Whats happening is that u have to let the car get out of the "coldstart" mode. So if u just let it run longer it should be alright.

That would be true. But the car will not even turn over, like the starter is bad. But the starter has been changed. So it is not even turning over.

You can have a problem with the ignition switch, the starter itself, the automatic park/neutral safety switch bullshit, or the wiring between. IT wouldnt be very hard at all to figure it out. Dont let that stand between you and the car.

orgcrsh,

If you need the automatic trans for your commute, then go for it. If you want a REALLY FUN sports car, look for the 5speed manual version.

RX-7s are a purist sports car and a BLAST to drive. You'll never want to drive anything else after owning one

The models to choose from are:
Convertible (real sports car & fun in the sun)
GXL (luxury),
GTU (performance)
GTU-S or Sport (lightweight track ready versions)
SE (base model)
Turbo II (supercar)
