2013 New smog laws. What exactly changes for us OBDI users
This is what I am talking about.
SmogTips.com - AB 2289 - Smog Check Law California. No more tailpipe smog test. Elimination of tailpipe smog check testing for 2000 model vehicles and newer.
.
I can tell from reading this that OBD II no longer have to do the dyno test. But what about us? I am going to assume that nothing has changed with the way we are tested but I just want to make sure before I get all freaked out. I know that some of us here in CA already have a hard time passing smog/test only centers.

So update,
I got my smog test only done. Yippy!!! but, i was talking to the guy who owns the shop and he told me that they are not putting cameras in the shop really. What they are going to do and have been doing for some time now, is putting cameras in a car and sending a undercover smog inspector to test the owners/workers at the test only centers.

yep
i used to have to deal with the cali *****, most people would just do it under the table. the rest would pay extra to make the car appear to be smog legal but just shy of not, but still able to pass. in most cases that is all that truly matters, unless you find a smog tech who just can't handle any aftermarket parts at all.
a pfc nicely hidden in the OE location does just the job, the rest is easily hidden except the exhaust and they can't fail you for having a modified exhaust system.
but then again, he must be extremely paranoid to dig up the thread.

I've said it before, CA is pretty stupid with these emissions laws. The state has SO MANY financial issues, and they still manage to go after 25+ year old cars.
Even NY doesn't do the roller/sniffer test for a few years now. I can't fart without being taxed on it here in NY, but at least they don't **** away resources on ancient car testing.

It used to be a rolling 25 year window, but the Governator f'd that up for what ever reason was whispered into his ear. Otherwise almost all 1st Gens would be exempt as of this year.
