Question 1x8 off Truck hits my FC3C just now, favorite color for new paint?

Just dropped my kid off at last day of summer school, and coming back on freeway, lumber truck loses 1 x 8 's and finds "Daphne's" hood. New paint job from them. Got pictures of your favorite color on car, and who do you reccommend for doing a first class job. MAACO, MIRACLE, hahahah. Really, Im in Sacramento/Bay Area.

I like blue on RX-7s....just my personal taste.

And definitely stay away from Maaco and Earl Sheib (sp?) !!

What I would do is ask around. There are a few unchained shops that probably do extremely good jobs for a ridiculously high price that no one would ever pay for unless they drive a high class car. Since you're not the one paying for the paint job, these ridiculously overpriced shops that do ridiculously good jobs would be your best bet.

Do some searching on Collector-Car forums. Guys who shell out 10K for a paint job don't go to Maaco, and those who have nice rides post lots of pics. When you are restoring a car (anything from a Muscle car to a Model T) people always look at the paint job. Anyone who has a good experience with a shop that has restored their car is fircey loyal and will always refer people to them. do a quick search on those forums, and you'll get a good idea of who are the ok shops, and who are the ones to avoid. You'll find that the quality shops usually don't deal much with insurance jobs!

There is actually a great shop in Vallejo, I'll get his number later.

PM me to remind me if I forget.

Usually only around $2k for a excellent paint job. The only draw back is that he is slow (probably take a couple of weeks minimum to paint).

And this really isn't 2nd gen techincal related. You probably should have posted in the regional forums

Thanks Ice, Ill catch up with you later, and it sure is nice to know that one day this dog might actually do something right in this club. Next time I'll post correctly. Is how much you pay for your car ok here then? No sarcasm,

Well if you mean the cost, most body shops charge only after seeing the car. The last job I had him do came out perfect without any flaws (as good if not better than the stock paint on a vert) and he charged me $1500 but I had all the trim removed and let him have the car for 2 months so he could work on it when he had time
