yeah absolutely some crazy ****! How the hell would stock 550cc injectors have enough for 20psi of boost??? Your 550's would be at its max duty way before that I thought???? Hum...........

He could have raised his fuel pressure up quite a bit. I'm not absolutely sure, but I'm guessing that his injectors could be stuck open and he is just forcing fuel in through upped fuel pressure. Forum member "tearbo2" ran GSLSE injectors (I believe) on his motor using stock ECU and made 400rwhp before he switched to his Haltech setup... Look him up on TeamFC3S.

PM ZeroBanger and have him hook you up with a WI kit. http://www.coolingmist.com

I put mine in a coupla months ago and am totally sold on it. It can be just as reliable as your fuel system(even more so with regular maintenance) and water or a water/alcohol mix cools your intake air much better than fuel(much cheaper too ;-).
Judging from previous posts this may sound crazy but with a good WI system you really don't need the extra fuel or an FMIC. That's all redundant and a waste of $2 per gallon fuel, fuel computer, injectors, etc, etc.
Even on 90+ degree days boosting at 15 lbs, my intake temps are 90 or less--and that's before adding fuel. It's nice to know that I've got the fuel mods as a *backup* system but I might have done thing differently if I knew that my primary intake cooling system (WI) would cost only ~$200 because then I probably wouldn't have paid the extra $300 for injectors, $300 for SAFC, fuel pump, etc.

All you need to make your current mods work is a WI system and an Intake Temp sensor.
That'll take care of intake temps--whether your stock turbo can handle regular boosting to 15lbs or not--that's debateable.

So you are running your stock tmic???? Do you have the dual stage or single stage???? Also does this kit keep your intake temps at a consistant 90+ temp or is it someting you have to spray all the time???? Thanks just a newb when it comes to wi.

I have the all the mods in my sig....I run stock psi to save gas (still @ 13 mpg in town) but if I wanna race a 350z or some car worth it I crank it up to 15psi. The turbo takes it all the way with no probs. Why would you want to run 15 psi for everyday stuff though??? With stock I still kill A LOT of cars in town.

You can run 15psi daily, but you have to have total throttle control to keep boost at the level you really want it to be at. Be one with your turbo. Know it's sounds... You could be driving down the road and without looking at a boost gauge, think "uh.... That's 13.2psi... , better back off a bit."

If you've got reason to back down the boost, go ahead. It saves gas, prevents tickets and allows people to stare at your car a little bit longer (since you're going slower). If you have a boost controller, that's exactly what they're made for. Different settings for different conditions. If the stock turbo was teeny and you had to make 15psi just to get on the freeway at a reasonable rate then that would be different. But in my opinion 10psi is great for driving to work, school, anywhere you're not enticed beat someone's *** in a race. But alas, the final decision is up to you. Do what you wish young Skywalker...

Oh and to answer your initial question, I would definitely go with the walbro 255 hp fuel pump. Made a world of difference when it comes to making sure I still have fuel in the top end.

Yeah--I'm running the stock tmic. I'm currently running single-stage WI.
To backup a bit, I built my system myself using info from http://www.turbomirage.com/water.html. I go PM'd by ZeroBangger when I asked about finding boost switches for DIY WI. coolingmist.com is his site. If I knew about it earlier I would've just given him the $$$'s instead of wasting time sourcing all the parts myself.
Believe it or not, on a hot summer day, the only time the temps go up is when I'm sitting at a light - no boost, so the WI isn't on, but the IC soaks up the hot ambient temps. I actually run cooler temperatures when I'm boosting above 10 lbs then when I'm just cruising around town.

I feel the same way. I've got an MBC that switches between low and high boost via a toggle switch. I only kick it up to high boost when I feel like gettin on it. I'm trying to figure out how to make a mini-controller that would sense the intake temps - and if they're too high, it would send a signal to the MBC and switch it down to low-boost. This way it would be pretty much impossible to overboost without the protection of WI.

I just need a damn front mount, wi sounds fun but it seems like a band aid for the problem or maybe I'm just not seeing it correctly. Do you have to constantly fill up water??? Anyways thanks for the input lowfreq! I am going to read that site about how to because that is something I might like to have on a front mount later on in the future.

Well, the great thing about an FMIC is that it's virtually maintenance free. The downside compared to WI is it doesn't cool as well as WI and it's much more expensive than WI and also the FMIC won't do it alone--you need the fuel mods along with it.
The WI does the exact same thing that your fuel mods do, so it's def not a band-aid.
I fill mine up whenever I fill up my tank with gas. When I was doing my research on what I'd have to do to up the boost on my car I felt the same way you did which is why I spent $$$'s doing fuel when I coulda had the same result with just the WI.
But hey, it's your ride and yer money so you gotta do what's comfortable for you. Talk to some peeps that are running WI and get some opinions.

well I need to research it alot more cause I just thought it was something to keep your intake temps cooler I had no idea it was also adding fuel. I already have fuel upgrades I'll attach my sig so you can see. I'm thinking of just going ahead and getting an old school hks trust intercooler because of the price 400 bucks or so. Water injection would be nice but if I have to fill up the gas tank plus dump 2 stroke oil in (premix) and fill up the water injection lol it would be a long time spent just getting gas

I think you've got the same misconceptions that I had before I researched WI.
When you up your boost, you need a bit more fuel to keep the correct A/F ratio. But think about it, people replace injectors with bigger ones, sometimes add more injectors, bigger fuel pumps, bigger fuel rails, etc. All that added fuel isn't just to keep the A/F ratio stoich.
All that extra fuel is to cool down the intake air. So yer paying $2 a gallon and much of it isn't even being used for combustion purposes. Much of it is being used to cool the intake air.
So WI isn't adding fuel. It's adding water (or alcohol or a water/alcohol mix) INSTEAD of fuel.
Here's the deal with my setup...
I've got my WI plumbed into my windshield washer reservoir. When I fill up my tank, I top off the water. That's it. Most people pop the hood and to check the oil and top off fluids when they fill up anyway. So the trade off is- I pop the hood and top off whenever I fillup and in return I get intake temps lower than ANY intercooler will give you(because intercoolers won't cool the air lower than ambient) And I did that for half the price you're gonna pay for yer FMIC -- and $400 is a good price for a front-mount. But I will say that a nice FMIC does alot more *cosmetically* for the FC than WI does.

I might just go this route.....This is all very interesting.....Your about to change my mind.....I mean I would love a fmic for the ease of mind but water injection seems so cheap.....Damn I'm stuck!

I installed my nozzle in the endtank of the TMIC. I installed my temp probe a few inches farther downstream. If I thought the temp probe installation thru a little further I may have been able to splice the wires temp sensor display wires into the stock intake temp wires and not need to install a seond probe. Hindsight is 20/20.

hey lowfreq I think this requires your own thread in this section showing everyone where you installed everything. Maybe if you where the one to do the installation you could make a write up with pictures! I'm sure we need one! Thanks
