I just now stumbled upon this thread, props to you for fitting everything together and making it work using mostly factory parts. Subscribed!

The 6 speed is...
3.76 2.269 1.645 1.187 1.00 .843

if A is < B than C is > B

I'll soon find out if i can put that fc 3rd gear in the rx8 4th. with/without major refab.
So making your car slower, use more fuel in final gear and having to shift extra is win in your opinion?

yes, because a blown auto that doesnt shift outta first, is hells better then a 6 speed.

haters gonnna hate. jelly fools.

if i don't like the final gear rpms, i have a 3.909 lsd to throw in.

have you driven a .697 FC? the ratio's suck, 5th gear is useless. the extra gear in the Rx8 box lets you have a gear for every corner, the Rx8 gearing is basically the competition ratio's plus a granny gear first.

I see i should have clarified my statement a bit, because i compared it to the tried-and-true TII tranny swap.
I don't see the justification for all the work needed for this swap apart from saying that you have a 6speed instead of 5.

ah the turbo II tranmission, the fansboyz wet dream.

personally i like the tall *** 1st gear. 160 ftlbs of torque isn't going to get you anywhere anytime soon, if you had say a 2.8 or 2.5 1st.

ALOT of people seem to forget how much RPM range we have to play with. I can drive my rx8 at 400 rpm in 6th gear around a parking lot, and i can hit ~33 mph in first.

heres another fun fact for five ****...
the rx7s usable rpm range is around 1.5k to 7-8k. Rx8 drivers (that I've seen) keep the engine over 3-4k at all times. and letting it dip down to 2.5k is "bad" and you're just " lugging the engine." this was said by the guy who has tuned well over 200? rx8s. mazdamaniac.

been doin this about twice a week all summer... i'll take some mo pics of the tranny mount next week. i still don't have a work around for the speedo... unless i pull the tranny and ATTEMPT to add the fc speedo gear... don't really caer for the speedo but an odometer would be nice. I couldn't tell you if i put 2k miles on it now or 8k. i'm guessing around 6.

Get a GPS based Speedo..you don't have to fab any sensors on the car or the transmission.
It will work like 99.9% of the time.Unless you drive Underground(tunnels) a lot!

Is that a first gen or second gen RX8 transmission? I would love to do this. I like the transmission in my NC miata so much better than the rx7 stock NA one. The NC transmission is the second gen RX8 trans.

Added a 3000Gt wing raddle canned with dupicolor to match... and changed rims to Stock FDs.

Think i'm gonna shave the 3rd break light and emblem holes and just run this in the middle with the 3000gt wings brake light( not pictured)
