1988 RX7 Convertible

This is my first RX7 & it has a weird leak that I cannot find. At least once a week I have to add fluid in the clutch master cylinder, but I don't see a leak. I've checked everywhere I just don't see any fluid. & if I let the car sit for a week or more the clutch pedal falls to the floor but if I pump it it comes right up I probably need a new master cylinder but what I wanna know is where is all the fluid going??????

Sometimes the master cylinder leaks at the firewall or behind the firewall and under the carpet where it is hard to see. It could also be the slave cylinder or line, so very carefully run your hand down the line to see if you feel any torn material or wet fluid. The most common area for leaks on these cars is the slave cylinder's rubber boot, although the master cylinder and hose do sometimes leak.

If you need a new hose then you can either get an OEM hose or a nice stainless steel aftermarket hose from aftermarket vendors like Mazdatrix.

If your slave cylinder is bad, you can either get a piston rebuild kit or a replacement cylinder. The rebuild kit is universal between the NA and TII model, but if you get a replacement cylinder you will need the NA model. This is because the piston is the same between the cars but the cylinder has different mounting points as you can see below. (NA on the left, TII on the right)

What He said! ^^^^

My personal recomendation is whenever your having a problem with a system or particular component on these cars, replace as much as you can pertaining to that system. For example, when my clutch started acting up, I changed my slave cylinder, then master, then the clutch kit it's self. I wish I just replaced them all at once, but like many other N/A owners (and turbo for that matter) I couldn't afford them all at once. Now I have hook-ups to get my parts at-cost so it's not a big deal anymore. If you can get yourself into a situation like that, it would be very benificial to you and your new joy. Replacing as many of the componants as you can at the same time helps iron out the wrinkles, also make sure you get ALL new fluid in there and properly bleed and flush the system. You won't be dissapointed.
