all about driving...ever go to the track and see some cars run a LOT slower than they should? Like a stock S2000 running a 15.4? or a WRX only pulling a 15.0? u also have to remember that when a magazine tests a car they do lots and lots of runs and beat the absolute **** outta the cars...launching off rev limiters, power shifting- run after run till they get it right. my first day drag racing ever I ran my car w/ it's first setup of mods which have all been replaced...very basic, a full exhaust, intake and a poor clutch, heavy 16 inch ROH wheels, springs and struts. I started running 17's...after a bunch of runs (summer weekday) I got it down to 16.2...by the end of the day I was running 15.4's and this was also on race-gas (little did i know NA rotary's will run better on low octane than high). I suspect a very high 14 (car is totally different, many many more mods, all old stuff taken off and sold) now but its been so long that I guarantee it takes me a day to get the good times again. main thing to make sure is that the cat isn't clogged...best way to do that is remove it For the NA I remember getting consistently better times when holding 3rd gear across the line and not shifting 4th before the race was over. On a good run I'd be a tad over redline in 3rd when crossing the finish. a few extra revs wont hurt the rotary and the time it took to shift 4th w the poor clutch was shaved.

very right, my boss's eclipse gsx runs in the mid 11's, which it shouldn't because he has dynoed at over 500 hp, it's cause he hasn't gotten used to launching and driving it with the new mods(converted from front to all wheel drive, was a gst), your times should get better with practice... good luck

How come I get the slow rex's. My 88 SE ran 17.4's.

i cant believe you couldnt tell the difference with the new exhaust. jeez, with my S5 NA after my ehxuast it was a new BEAST! my advice is take off the airpump and wire the ports open.
OR...forget about the 1/4 mile because an NA will never be very fast anyway w/out CASH. Go try autocrossing, its a blast! and your car would be good at it.

Im going to this junkyard tommorow to find some TPS's i know they have them. Then if that doesnt work, Im going to have Don Marvel do a compression test for me. If that comes back bad then im buying a jspec turbo II motor and rebuilding it with a streetport and dropping it into my car. But thats worst case scenario.

Exactly what mods did you do to your car? STEREO and all??? What size wheels, how's your transmission, engine and all it's parts, how much do YOU weigh? How much practice? You have to remember all of those things count.

The mods are in my signature like i said on the first page, stereo includes just replacing the stock speakers and two 10 inch MTX subs, neither of which weigh more than 10 pounds a peice, I weigh 120, 15 inch khumo 712 supras, the syncros for second are slightly worn and grind going into second only when slammed and only grinded once on me at the track, Ive been to ennis 4 times and got about 5 runs in each time except the last time when I only got 4 in.

One tip...don't shift TOO fast (read:HARD). A lot of people think that in order to shift fast you have to shift really hard...this is not true, watch ANY real racer (ha...except 'Vin') and you'll see that they're perfectly calm when they shift. All you need is practice I'm gonna guess. Good luck

Oh I dont slam my gears dont worry about that But if you do try and move the shifter to fast into gear, note moving it faster into gear isnt the same thing as slamming it, it grinds.

One time when we were up at Ennis we actually saw a red civic DX double clutching when he was racing. It was quite funny considering he ran about a 17
